We are delighted to inform you that Smartwhip has been compensated for the production of nitrous oxide. We are confident in the invention and advantages that Smartwhip cream chargers provide to professional chefs and the catering industry. However, we recognize the environmental effects of nitrous oxide, which is why we strive to find a balance between production and reducing our adverse environmental impact.
Sustainability one step at a time
We’ve been taking little steps toward this end, such as the production of Smartwhip cylinders from recycled materials. In fact, because the cylinder (which contains a considerably larger amount of nitrous oxide) is designed with less amount of steel than traditional chargers, the manufacturing of Smartwhip has a reduced pollution impact than that of conventional chargers.
We are proud to announce that we have joined the Urban Street Forest Foundation (USF), which is an N2O compensated firm through agriculture in Sub-Saharan Africa, in an effort to expand our commitment to sustainable development. Smartwhip strives to plant 120,000 trees each year through the USF as an initial step toward becoming a more sustainable business.
The USF Foundation
The USF Foundation has committed to help local rainforest communities reestablish sustainable practices. In addition, the funds will go toward improving biodiversity and providing educational outreach in the areas of sustainability education, disease prevention and control, reforestation initiatives, water conservation projects, and tree planting days. As a result of this investment, not only are trees required to compensate restored; but also additional practical and instructive sustainability activities are funded in addition to an ongoing research program.
